Endless struggle for civil rights in Punjab: Bapu Surat Singh’s health deteriorates

After keeping him detained for more than a month at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), the Punjab government released Bapu Surat Singh Ji (Bapu Ji) on 1 December, 2015. Bapu Ji was allowed to return to his home in Hassanpur, Punjab.

This past week, Bapu Surat Singh Ji had undergone numerous health complications due to DMCH’s force feeding and incompatible treatment. Bapu Ji had experienced an accumulation of liquid in his lungs, abdomen, and joints and shortness of breath. As a result, Bapu Ji’s health had considerably deteriorated and the hospital had to cease its force feeding and treatment.

Bapu Surat Singh Ji is now at home in Hassanpur and continues his struggle, remaining resolute in his resolve to free political prisoners in India.
