Sayabasachi Panda’s Arrest: A Different Perspective

By Sudhir Pattnaik,

Sayabasachi Panda-whether you agree with his politics or not was a fearless fighter- who was with the masses for a long time with total commitment. Had he worked over ground he would have proved to be one of the outstanding pro people politicians of the state. Today’s global political situation which has globalized the coercive/violent power of the state will never allow any attempt to overthrow or even challenge a system which could be treated as violent. Most of the left radical outfits refuse to recognize this nature of the state which has become increasingly violent. What one needs today is a proper and ‘non-violent’ strategy even in the face of substantial state violence or violence by dominant forces. Violence in today’s situation will breed more violence and all at the cost of the common men.

Sabyasachi, as he gradually became desolate, physically weak and diseased, perhaps he realized what he needed to pursue a particular path which he could not afford now. This was the time for criminals in uniform to catch him and present him before the media hungry public that a big fish has been caught. I am told a fight is going on among Odish’s police officers while settling claims for the credit. Now they may even try to book him for the 9/11 attack on World Trade Center or for 26/11 attack in Mumbai’s Taj Hotel.

I have never seen this fighter even during his student days. I have heard a lot about him and therefore have got admiration for him though I don’t accept his politics and strongly feel that he would have been more effective had he chosen politics over ground. I must thank CM Nabin Pattnaik for not deciding to eliminate him. Had Modi been in his position we all would have heard the news that, “Sabyasachi Panda was killed in an encounter when he fired at a police squad”. I would request the CM to treat him with dignity as the Courts will take care of the trial process.

To support Naxals is OK, to kill innocents is also OK, to plant Bombs on railway lines and kill innocent passengers is OK. Supporters of such heinous crimes even if killed in fake encounters, will make India a safer place to live

Guys like him should be hanged immediately. Why wait for a trial when we know he is a naxalist. People like this author are shame to the country. How can you glorify a dog who waves war against your own country, destroying railway tracks and burning public property.

We can tolerate a Modi who was presiding over brutal killings of more than 2000 Muslims in 2002 in Gujarat and reward him with the post of PM. We can call the people who killed innocent people in Malegaon as ” Patriots” but we are not willing to tolerate some one because he did not belong to fascist school of thought. Yes, this man should also be tried and punished so also all others.

The way by which Com. Sabyasachi arrested or trapped or surrendered is another topics for discussion. But the issues raised by him and his party is no-doubt is the voice of voiceless people. No violence either from state or any organisation is accepted at all. But when the present state kill it’s own citizen, suppress the dissent voices from every corner for the interest of corporate, the so-called civil society behave like coward. It is the tragedy of history the killers of thousands of innocents(tribal, dalits as well as marginalized poor people) by their structural policy and organized plan of action, they become the ruler of our country and also in various states. Which court will punish them when courts are part of their ruling system ? But without the political education small military action can’t challenge the military state like India.

Mr. mohanty. Had it been the military state people like you would not have dared to criticize the government openly

  • NARENDRA MOHANTY

No, the State & police charge sheeted me in various fabricated cases like UAPA, 120(B), 121, 124 & Arms Act to suppress the dissent voice. But I and our organization has the dare to protest against the injustice, killing of innocents in the name of encounter by the state as well as killing of common people in the name of police informer by the Maoists. Because, we believe only the united left democratic mass movement can solve the problems faced by people.
