Hail politics in the name of Bharat Mata
The debate on nationalism is back, this time the controversy is around to hail Bharat Mata or not. With the latest controversy back are the words which have become common these days “Deshdrohi, Sedition and Pakistan”.
Continuing the self-assumed responsibility of defining, enforcing, correcting and validating nationalism, RSS chief on 3rd of March suggested new generation needs to be taught to chant Bharat Mata ki jai. Reacting to Mohan Bhagwat, self-proclaimed, national leader of Muslims, Assaduddin Owaisi president of AIMIM said he will not utter Bharat mata ki jai, even if knife is place on his throat. Thus begin the circus once again.
As an Indian Muslim, who is born and brought up in the constituency of Assaduddin Owaisi, being a social worker by qualification, worked in 3 metropolitan cities, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai and who have more non-Muslim friends than Muslims, this is what I think of latest controversy.
Foremost, I don’t see any difference in the politics done by BJP, Shiv Sena or AIMIM. Neither have I seen any difference in Assaduddin Owaisi, Akberuddin Owaisi, Praveen Togadia, Udhav Thackeray, Azam Khan, Yogi Aditiyanath or Sadhvi. All of them speak the language of hate, division, suppression, paranoia. The degree differs as per individual and party capacity. Neither I subscribe, nor encourage this sort of politics.
All of them are self-claimed custodian of some causes like Bharat Mata, Bhartiya Sanskriti, nationalism and minorities. In so doing, these people enforce there ideologies on others by force and dare you challenge them.
Playing the politics of polarisation these parties are only dependent on particular vote bank. For AIMIM, it is only Muslim community and Muslim’s are reluctant to vote to BJP or Shivsena. So there vote are seized and only reaps benefits when they attack people outside their vote bank. In so doing these parties and there members feed each other’s purpose by attacking or reacting to each other.
Having cleared my stand that I view these parties and individuals as same, here are my views on Bharat Mata ki Jai.
Nobody has right to enforce or ask to prove loyalty of fellow citizen towards nation. That too, on a perceived notion of what you think or practice is right and required. Few months back a couple was harassed for not standing on the national anthem played in the theatre. It is not required by law. I personally don’t believe uttering Bharat Mata ki Jai is criteria to prove my love towards India. To me service to my nation is more important than utterance of some slogans.
Likewise, I also believe, it is unnecessary to hurt the sentiments of others. For many Indians, Bharat Mata ki Jai is sacred phrase, you don’t have to utter it, neither have you to publically disapprove it. Like Assaduddin did. He unnecessary hurt the sentiments of people. In the same way, nobody has right to interfere or enforce on your food habits, permissible by law, like beef. Likewise I oppose beef parties, organized to oppose beef ban which hurts the sentiments of people who worships it.
The current controversy is well selected and politically planned by Assaduddin Owasi and very well reaped by BJP and other right wing parties. All of them are back in main stream news and back are the elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu,Pondicherry and next year grand election of Uttar Pradesh.
From love Jihad, Ghar wapsi, Beef ban, intolerance and now Bharat Mata ji Jai, I don’t know how much more is left to be bore by us under these retarded politicians.
After arousing the unnecessary sentiments, while Assaduddin owasi, enjoys multi-layer security, at threat are the common Muslims, who will have to bear the fringe elements of right wings,
May God bless India!
