Sanghi Vilification of Radhika Vemula and Dontha Prashanth is ‘insensitive and inhuman’

Statement by Joint Action Committee for Social Justice (UoH) expressing anger and disgust over outright casteist and communal remarks made by Surya Pratap Singh on Rohith Vemula’s family and Dontha Prashanth, one of the socially boycotted Dalit research scholars along with Rohith Vemula.

These insensitive and inhuman comments made by Surya Pratap Singh is extremely derogatory towards the entire Dalit community. Surya Pratap Singh, BJYM Campus coordinator and a strong ally of ABVP in UoH post-#JusticeforRohith struggle is a sick, casteist, mysogynist and disgusting person. He charged Radhika Vemula of having “luxurious” transport facility to Una over her son, Rohith Vemula’s dead body.  He charged that Raja Vemula, brother of Rohith Vemula is taking advantage by “asking” for Government job. He has also charged Dontha Prashanth, one of the socially boycotted Dalit research scholars along with Rohith Vemula stating that he is on his way to get a MLA ticket.

As a matter of fact, Radhika Vemula was admitted in Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. The very fact that justice for her son is delayed despite the release of National SC Commission report, has had a damaging effect on her health. Despite her detoriating health conditions, she decided to go to Una to express solidarity with the Dalit community in Gujarat. How dare you, Surya Pratap Singh for slinging mud on Radhika Vemula?

With what audacity are you charging Raja Vemula of “asking” for a “A grade” Government job? Again, you have displayed your dirty casteist mindset!
1. Raja Vemula rejected the job that was offered to him by Delhi Government.
2. Raja Vemula is a Post Graduate. Your political masters, all Caste Hindus are not even “qualified”. However, we do not endorse this “merit” argument because it is Brahmanical.
3. The entire nation knows what is written in the report that is released by National SC Commission.

Your Brahmanical hindutva fascist ego is threatened by Dontha Prashanth’s Ambedkarite politics that he sternly iterates despite all the State repression. Dontha Prashanth was one of socially ostracized Dalit research scholars who stood bravely and reached out to people across the country exposing the anti-people policies of the Sangh Parivar. This mud slinging on Dontha Prashanth only exposes your insecurity that Dalits are marching ahead in all three aspects, social, economic and political life, shaking the foundations on which you are arrogantly standing today.

This is just another instance of how BJP, RSS and its student organization ABVP have been trying to delegitimize our struggle for #JusticeforRohith, our struggle for social justice and annihilation of caste. First, they executed the institutional murder of Rohith Vemula by bypassing and violating the University mechanisms, then they conspired against Rohith Vemula’s caste identity, upheld and propagated the Brahmanical Patriarchal understanding that children inherit father’s caste and religion in “Indian” society. Several BJP ministers and members of Sangh Parivar starting from BJYM to VHP to RSS labelled Dalit students including Rohith Vemula as anti-nationals and terrorists and made many casteist remarks unapologetically. In a recent debate on NDTV, Rakesh Sinha, RSS spokesperson labelled Dontha Prashanth as a “Pseudo Intellectual”. After repeated attacks on #JusticeforRohith struggle by the Sangh Parivar and its stooge Kamma fascist Appa Rao Podile, the Sanghi stooges in ABVP disguised as “true” nationalists are now attacking Rohith Vemula’s family again.

Joint Action Committee for Social Justice (UoH) expresses rage and disgust over Surya Pratap Singh’s statements and all such other statements coming from Sangh Parivar on social media and rejects the idea of a nation that humiliates and alienates Dalit community and Babasaheb Dr. B.R.Ambedkar’s principles.
