Palakkad: Student Islamic Organization (SIO) Kerala Zone organised a protest gathering at Palakkad against the police negligence in tracing the JNU Student Mohammed Najeeb who went missing more than a month ago. The program named “Najeeb Square” was organised as part of the State Members Meet held here. Zonal President Nahas Mala, in his inaugural address questioned the inactivity of the Delhi Police towards the incident especially the negligence in prosecuting the ABVP Goons who assaulted Najeeb few days before his missing. There has been continued efforts to terrorise those who dare to ask questions against the state, Najeeb’s incident being the latest- he added.
Cadres of SIO proclaimed their solidarity with the kith and kin of Najeeb in their fight for justice. They also raised voices against the Sangh Parivar targeting Muslim students. Slogans were also raised against the police brutality towards Najeeb’s mother who is in the forefront the struggle. The meet also passed a resolution seeking stringent actions against all those who are behind the missing of Najeeb and find Najeeb at the earliest.
Earlier, SIO Kerala observed November 8 as Najeeb Day in solidarity with struggles being held all over the country. Protest gathering and mass campaigning were held at different district headquarters and various campuses across the state.
Zonal Secretary, Shamseer Ibraheem, Secretaries Jumail P.P, Shiyas Perumathura, Adhil A, Amjad Ali EM, Shabeer Koduvally, Sajeer TC, Jaseem Sulthan also spoke at different gatherings.
